....enviro fail.
Note to self: do something I care about next time. Like a gritty city or something. At least I live in one long enough to care about paintings of fictional gritty cities and take enough pictures of one. Nitty gritty itty bitty.

Normally I'd scrap this. but.
I'm trying to make finished stuff so I can kick my habit of deleting things or leaving them unfinished.

I'm not a paid member so,
CRITIQUES STRONGLY REQUESTED.
Any tips to improve this piece and advice on painting environments in general would be greatly appreciated. And good (and preferably dead aka. old masters, brandywine, whathaveyou) enviro painters to look at. Thanks!

Although this sort of thing should be done regardless of whether one decided to shovel DA any money.

I absolutly adore the colours and the light. :)

One thing that might be improved is the lower left - the hologram screen/computerthingy looks surprisingly unsharp compared to the others, but otherwise this picture is fantastic. :)

This is amazing. I'm very impressed by the way the soft lights bounce off different surfaces. I'm interested in this concept! Great job.

And that robot in the front looks like Alpha from Power Rangers.

Oh yeah Mass Effect has had no influence on you at all.

I like the colors but I wish you pushed the orange glow a bit more for a bit more contrast especially on the closer up panels to the left. I love the reflected light and wouldn't mind seeing that pushed a bit more too, not to the extent of it being super obvious but maybe just a slight intensity increase...

The only other thing I can think of is that the floor and ceiling kind of confuse my eye. The ceiling looks like it goes further than the floor but it looks like it's supposed to not go further than the floor. So I guess decide if you want the environment to be deeper or shorter and then match one or the other to whatever you choose. I'd like to see a deeper feel so try extending the floor a bit further back or giving it a slightly higher and smaller cut off point. Hopefully I'm making sense, it's been a while.

Either way I think there's a lot of great stuff in here and it's another piece I'd like to put on my wall to keep the monster print you gave me company. Hope I helped you out some, I'm glad you're still making art. You're improving every time i see something new. =)

oddly enough i started painting this before playing ME.
was trying to make a cyberpunk city thing but it became this instead. -_-;;
although the normandy SR1's innards are the same color XD
i definately need to rework the perspective..
i wanted to keep it close to the thumb as possible but i guess it wonked up the perspective. =T
damn thing is always the stuff i have trouble with when painting stuff like this.
guess that means i need to make this stuff work before painting it in.

thanks for the crit! it's always to great to hear them =D

Extremely cool, has a techno-magical feel. Extremely good control of light and shadow.
